Sala Discontinua está conformada por 5 colecciones de documentos de finales del siglo XIX y principios de XX, pasaportes, censos y traslados de esclavos, propiedades, acciones y recibos de negocios, postales y fotos dedicadas y medallas escolares. Las colecciones transitan por la emotividad de la época, la movilidad económica, la migración, los individuos sociales no nombrados y la educación. Algunas de ellas fueron acotadas con citas a cambios y modificaciones en nuestro país del año anterior. De cada colección resaltamos datos encontrados en los mismos documentos que dialogaban con estas citas del año 2013 y con los propios documentos coleccionados.

 Cada colección fue presentada desde un mueble casero actual, sacados de las casas de nuestros amigos y de las nuestras. La Sala Discontinua mostró su colección desde el orden doméstico, no son documentos extraídos de archivos sino de ventas en ferias o en casas convertidas en tiendas. Son recuerdos familiares engavetados, las microhistorias que no se escriben sino que conviven con nosotros.

 La Sala Discontinua permaneció oscura durante todo el tiempo de exhibición, sólo fueron iluminadas sus cinco colecciones con lámparas recargables que podían ser utilizadas por los visitantes para descubrir puntualmente diferentes detalles de la colección.

 

 

 “Sala Discontinua” is built by five collections of documents from late XIX and beginning of XX centuries. Passports, census and slavery transportation acts, properties, companies’ shares and business accounts sheets, postcards and dedicated photos, scholar’s medals. The collections explores into the emotion of the time, the financial mobility, migration, common social individuals and education. Some parts of this collection were linked to quotes from the latest changes of our country in the last year. We highlight key elements in order to put present time and past in a dialog through the documents

. Every set of documents was presented by using domestic pieces of furniture, taken from our friends and families houses. The Room showed the collection from that perspective, not as a museum feeling. These fragments of stories were not from an archive, they come from street markets sells and houses turned into antiques stores around the Havana City. Family memories, unwritten micro stories living among us.

 Sala Discontinua project remain dark in the gallery space the whole time of the show, the five collections were only high lighted by using emergency lamps. The visitors could dig and focus in specific details from the collection.
