Utilizamos una estrategia del mundo virtual para mapear las relaciones humanas directas en un contexto específico. Partiendo de la estrategia utilizada por “facebook”, un amigo te conecta con otro amigo, comentamos acerca del estado de la comunicación humana directa hoy en día, específicamente en Huntly, Escocia. La red se inició con las primeras personas que conocimos cuando arribamos al lugar, les pedimos que nos presentaran a sus amigos que vivían en el pueblo y sus alrededores, y con los que mantuvieran contacto directo, cara a cara. Este gesto fue repetido permitiéndonos construir 7 cadenas de amigos y visitar 27 casas durante el proceso. Al mismo tiempo frecuentábamos espacios de socialización en el pueblo. De esta manera construimos un mapa de las conexiones a las que estábamos teníamos acceso durante nuestra estancia. Mediante nuestras charlas pudimos acumular información acerca del sentido de comunidad en el pueblo y como ha cambiado en los últimos años.

 El resultado final del proyecto fue un evento en nuestra casa, donde la documentación de todo el proceso fue mostrada. Invitamos a todo aquel que nos recibió en sus hogares como parte del proceso. Cada habitación se convirtió en una de las secciones de una página de “Facebook”: la sala era el sitio de los grupos y los eventos, con un programa completo de charlas y los mapas utilizados en nuestras visitas. En el corredor estaba el muro, mostrando las opiniones que acumulamos. La escalera fue el soporte de la línea del tiempo donde se podía apreciar el árbol de conexiones desarrolladas durante nuestra estancia en Huntly. La cocina, el área de los amigos, proyectamos sobre un mapa impreso del pueblo el recorrido que establecimos mientras acumulábamos información. El área me gusta estaba localizada en el jardín donde la música en vivo y una parrillada daba la bienvenida a los huéspedes. De esta manera creamos la sensación de una página de “Facebook” en tiempo real, en la cual las personas podían socializar directamente, cara a cara.

 

 We use a strategy from the virtual world in order to map the direct relationships in one specific context. Starting from the strategy used in facebook, a friend connect to another friend, to establish a comment about the state of direct human communication in the world today, especially in Huntly, Scotland. The net started with the first people we knew when we arrive to the place, we ask them to introduce us to their friends living in the town, and the ones they keep a direct friendship relation, face to face. We repeat this gesture allowing us to build 7 chains of friends and visit 27 houses during the process. At the same time we went to socialization spaces in town. In this way we build a map of the connections we were having access during our stay there. Through our talks we were able to accumulate information about the community sense in town and how changed in the last few years.

 

The end of the project was an event in our house in Huntly, where the documentation of the process was shown. We invite everyone who received us in their house as part of the project. Each room became one of the features from facebook pages: the living room was the place for the “groups” and the “events”, with a full program of talks and the maps we use during our visit to the socialization spaces. In the hall was “the wall” showing the opinions we gather. The stair case was the “timeline” where the people could saw the tree of friends we met in Huntly. The kitchen, friend’s area, we project on a printed map of the town our tour and the connections that we were accumulating; also we show the photo documentation from the visits to our new friends’ houses. The “Like” area was located at the garden of the house where music and a barbeque welcome the guests. In this way we create the feeling of a facebook page a live, in which the people could socialize directly, face to face.
