Durante un recorrido kilométrico por la Carretera Central de Cuba podemos leer, en una cinta informativa, los versos del poema del siglo XVIII "Las Frutas de Cuba" de Manuel Justo Ruvalcaba. Contrario a la abundancia que comenta el poema sólo vemos, desde la ventanilla del automóvil, vastas extensiones de marabú, un arbusto espinoso que brota en las tierras abandonadas por el hombre.

Kilometric trip along the Central Highway of Cuba while we are able to read in a passing line of text, the verses of the 17th century poem “The Fruits of Cuba” Contrast to the abundance that the poem describe, we see, from the window of a car, vast areas of marabú, a spiny bush that infests land long abandoned by man.
